Gregory Maurer

We celebrate the life of Gregory S. Maurer, who passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on June 19th, 2026, at the age of 66. He was born on May 3rd, 1960, in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania.

Greg dedicated 43 years of service to NAVSUP Weapon Systems Command in Northeast Philadelphia, retiring shortly before his passing. He was known by his coworkers for his dedication, dependability, and generous nature, always ready with a trivia question to brighten someone's day. He was highly engaged in his daily work, found fulfillment in his career as a logistician, and treasured close friendships with many of his colleagues over the years.

Outside of work, Greg found joy in the things he loved most — music, cycling, and spending time with family. An accomplished guitarist, he appreciated many genres of music and often shared that passion with those around him. He loved riding his bike on the scenic roads of Frenchtown, New Jersey, and was an avid follower of the Tour de France. Whether on a bicycle, with a guitar in hand, or gathered around the table with family, Greg had a way of making every moment a little more enjoyable with his humor and warm spirit.

Greg was completely devoted to his close knit-family, and always available when anyone was in need of help or advice. He made sure everyone gathered on a regular basis to share meals (plus lots of laughter), while discussing the latest details of their lives over a vast selection of card and boardgames. He was the heart of family game nights, turning casual afternoons and evenings into deeply cherished memories.

Despite facing many heath challenges throughout his life, his unwavering resilience was truly impressive and profoundly inspiring to all his loved ones. His indomitable spirit will forever live on through the family he loved and the many lives that he touched.

Greg is survived by his brother, Lee Maurer; his sister, Gloria Alcorn (the late Rick); his brother, Michael Maurer (Kim), his sister, Nicole Maurer (Ryan O'Dwyer); his nephews, Ryan Alcorn (Debbie) and Steven Maurer.

A viewing will be held on Friday, 26 Jun 2026 at 10:00am at John F. Fluehr & Sons, Inc, 3301 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19149. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 12:00pm.
