For more than 125 years, John F. Fluehr & Sons has been a constant presence on Cottman Avenue – a trusted neighbor to the families of Mayfair, Holmesburg, Rhawnhurst, Oxford Circle, Bustleton, Tacony, Fox Chase, and every corner of Northeast Philadelphia. Founded in 1898 by John F. Fluehr in the Kensington section of the city, our family-owned funeral home has grown alongside this community through every era of change, welcoming new neighbors while honoring the generations who built this neighborhood.
Today, Northeast Philadelphia is one of the most beautifully diverse communities in the country – home to Irish and Italian Catholic families who have been here for decades, to Ukrainian, Russian, and Albanian families who found a home here, to Latino families from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and beyond, to Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, and Brazilian neighbors, and to African American families who are woven into the fabric of this city. At Fluehr, we are honored to serve all of you.
Whatever your faith, background, language, or tradition, our experienced and compassionate team will work with you to create a service that reflects the life of your loved one with dignity, authenticity, and care. We speak your language – not just English, but the language of respect, patience, and personalized attention that every family deserves in their time of need.
At John F. Fluehr & Sons, we provide the full range of funeral and cremation services – from traditional Catholic or Orthodox funeral Masses, to graveside services, celebrations of life, bilingual memorial services, cremation with or without a service, and pre-planning consultations. Our spacious funeral home on Cottman Avenue features a non-denominational chapel, private family rooms, a casket showroom, and ample on-site parking. Our digital obituary platform preserves your loved one’s memory for generations.
Whatever form your farewell takes – a full funeral Mass, a quiet graveside gathering, a joyful celebration of life, or a simple direct cremation – we are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
